Happy St. Patrick's Day

At our house leprechauns visit the children on the eve of St. Patrick's Day. The girls leave their shoes outside their bedroom door and the sneaky, little green men leave treats and stickers for them to wake up to. Lily was particularly excited this morning as she ran into our room, holding her treats in her hands. "Mom! Dad! The lepers came!"

A Spoonful of Sugar

Chocolate cake to finish a horrible, miserable week which included high fevers, trips to the urgent care, snotty noses, black eyes, eye-patches, ear infections, antibiodtics, mommy-meltdowns, child tantrums, sleepless nights, and a funeral. Why does chocolate help everything to feel better?

What Remains

The snowman has been resurrected, but his appearance does not meet the prior level of excellence.

Scarface Claw

A picture of my dear Claire, who only wears dresses and whose favorite color is pink.

We Have Lift Off

Claire is not quite finished with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons, but she is reading. She read to Lily in the car this morning and was excited to read to her dad when he came home from work. My heart is overflowing. She is so pleased, and of course I am too.

Self Style #45632567

While playing princess yesterday, Lily cut her hair. I think that this is the 45,632,567th time that self-styles have occurred at our house. I am convinced that she will have a perpetual blonde bob--and maybe this is a sign that my girls are not supposed to have long hair EVER! It isn't so bad. She has a weird, quasi-side bang look. Whatever. My fury about these self-styles faded sometime after haircut #23,935,001.

Mummy

SOTW suggested mummifying a chicken as the activity for the chapter about Egyptians. (Who in the right mind would mummify a chicken?) We made a papier mache sarcophagus instead. We wrapped up one of their dolls in strips of linen and made a pyramid out of couch cushions. The girls pretended to be the Sphinx while Chris (the grave robber) looted the tomb of treasure (mardi gras beads). It was really (messy) fun.

Yogurt Face

She plucked this dish out of the dishwasher before I noticed...she got a bit messy.

Beheaded

The warm weather today (40 degrees) beheaded the very-round-snowman. A tragic loss indeed.
