Gingerbread Cake


I made this Chocolate Swirl Gingerbread Cake on Friday. It is sooooo good--though I have to admit--I have a weakness for both chocolate and gingerbread. This might be my new favorite cake! The chocolate is a nice touch and looks awfully pretty, but definitely not a necessity, the cake would still be great without it!

I disagree. It needed the chocolate. The chocolate provided a crust on top in nice contrast to the crumbly texture of the cake.

Husband,
Some of my readers are baking-impaired (cough-cough-my-mom), and to those people melting, drizzling and swirling chocolate in a decorative pattern is just too "Marthaish", if you know what I mean. The cake was really good--even without the chocolate.
