School Days

We started school a number of weeks ago and it is going very well.  The first weeks were difficult, our lazy flesh undisciplined after a summer off, but we have settled into a nice routine that seems easier every day.
-Finish Saxon 5/4, start Saxon 6/5
-Shurley 4
-Daily Handwriting Practice
-Latina Christiana
-Piano

-Finish Saxon 2/ start Saxon 3, supplement with Brain Quest Math 2 flashcards
-read to mom or siblings daily
-Copywork/ Handwriting - Small Catechism
-Prima Latina
-Piano

Together the girls and I will finish Story of the World 3 and Apologia's Anatomy and Physiology.

When the girls come home from Matins, we start our day reading science and history snuggled on the couch.  After we move to the dining room table to complete everything else.  We are usually done with our book learning by 1:00 or 2:00pm, depending on how focused and motivated we are.

Keep an eye on those Saxon books. Certain people have been known to steal the answers out of the back for years at a time, thus rendering them useless at math when they actually re-entered private school. Not that I would know. That's just what I've heard.

Is it still only the odd numbers that have the answers? ;)

Apologia Anatomy & Physiology??? Seriously? I sure do hope that there's an elementary version, because if your girls are doing senior-year AP science, I'm feeling incredibly inadequate. I'm looking at the size of that second book on Lily's stack, and it looks about the right size for the 12th-grade anatomy book.

Is Claire 27? She's changed since July. Jeesh!!!!

Love Lil's outfit. How festively chic!

I don't homeschool although there are many days I wish I did.
Our little classical Lutheran school does the Saxon Math and Latina Christiana. Good Stuff!
Keep up the hard work. You are doing your girls a huge service.

I did Saxon Math at the private school I grew up in too! It's great :). I also remember those Brain Quest little things that Lily is doing! Wow, the things you forget until they pop into your world again. And yes, those books do look huge. I mean, dang!

So what do Izzy and Gus do while the girls are doing school work? :)

Adriane and Meghan, All the answers are there in the book, safely tucked in my pile. I keep an eye!

Susan and Grace, It is Apologia A&P for elementary students. There is a lot of stuff in that book, but its fun and understandable and all of us love it!

DeAnn, There are many days I wish that I could send my kids to a classical Lutheran school.

Erin, I recently talked to a pastor who teaches Latin to 5-8th graders using Latina Christiana. I told him my homeschool friend had her 8-year-old doing it and she loves it. Way to go, Claire!

I hope you all have a wonderful school year. Thanks for sharing all the info.

Lauren, Claire is 9 and the curriculum will be challenging for her this year. I think that LC is totally appropriate for 5 - 8 graders.
