Father's Day

Claire skipped the traditional golf/ fishing/ necktie themed Father's Day card.

We had a good day today. Church was exceptional. The girls laid out their dresses and sandals last night. We didn't spend fifteen frantic minutes looking for the lost church sandal this morning. Everyone made it through the entire service without having to use the potty. Whoo Hoo!!! Chris's sermon was great. I heard (most of) it. Convicting, poetic, forgiving, lovely.

We went to Pioneer Village for their annual open house in the afternoon. The girls wore their sun bonnets. Trust me that they looked fabulous...I forgot the camera. Maybe I'll stage a picture tomorrow? (Maybe not.) We talked with a local bee keeper. He invited us to his farm to watch the extracting process later in the summer. He talked about the honey bee virus. He lost 50% of his bees last year! He was really interesting. The girls also were able to wash clothes, churn butter, and Claire sat, dunce capped, in the corner of the one roomed schoolhouse for writing on her slate board without permission. Pioneer Village is hosting a Fiddle Contest, Bluegrass Festival and Revolutionary War Reenactment later this year. We are looking forward to going back.

I picked the first crop of spinach from our garden yesterday. We ate spinach salad (a la Pioneer Woman) for dinner last night. Tonight, much to Claire's disappointment, we ate more along with a grilled pork loin. The exciting part was eating off of our new plates! Thank you Mom, Dad and Grandma! Do you like how the food looks on the white dinnerware?

That's funny, I almost made PW's spinach salad last time you guys were down. I still plan to try it.

Looks like you guys had a good day and happy father's day one day late to Chris.
