I burned my finger yesterday pulling a pan out of the 400 degree oven. I immediately ran it under cool water and held it against an ice pack, but then I remembered soy sauce. I had heard on a cooky NPR program somewhere that soy sauce will prevent a blister from forming. I was certain I would get a blister. Why not try it? I soaked a paper towel with soy sauce and held it on my finger for ten minutes.
No blister.
I would love to understand why. Anyone understand the science?
