Torus Fracture

Claire broke her wrist falling off of her scooter. She was coming down a hill at high speed and put out her arms to cushion the fall.

The type of incomplete fracture she sustained is called a Torus Fracture. Torus Fractures happen only in children, when their bones are still soft. Basically the bone compacts upon impact, and usually heals quickly without complication in 2-4 weeks.

Call me unoriginal or sentimental, I signed Claire's cast the exact way my mom signed my cast when I was a girl: " \/\/\/\/ <---- Broke Here! Love, Mom".

Not to be outdone--Izzy signed her own arm in permanent marker too!

I hope Claire asks me to sign her cast; it's been a long time since I've had the pleasure.

Marker on the arms? *sigh* Izzy and Elisabeth sure to remind me of each other. No wonder they get along so well.

And hey! It looks like you're playing with your camera's settings, no?

Goodness, I don't remember writing that, only yelling at you when you broke your arm during Kristen's girl scout meeting and then feeling very very bad that another leader (and ICU nurse, not like me as an ortho nurse who should know better) telling me please listen to your needs. What an awful mom! Forgive me. Can't wait to see you all tomorrow! Love you very much.
