That is AWESOME! Yes, I love the photo too. You guys are hot! When he's done at your house can you send him to mine? You can come too and we'll sit and drink coffee while he cleans.
(1) He has pretty high/ unrealistic expectations. I almost always fail to meet them, so I've given up. (2) I don't have time during the week. My focus is on homeschooling, cooking, laundry, and picking up/ organizing the daily clutter. (3) While he'd rather not do it, he doesn't mind helping out. He considers himself the school janitor.
This system works for us. We are a good foil to each other. I think about the big picture of home maintenance, he thinks about dusting the ceiling fan blades and vacuuming the collected dirt under the couch.
Our husbands must be from the same gene pool. Whenever we have company coming, he goes around cleaning things no one will notice, while I'm scrambling trying to keep the kids in line, making a company meal, and otherwise getting things ready while he cleans out the bathtub drain and moves my 9,000-pound desk to scrub the floor underneath.
I'm going to try your tack next time. Quitters unite!

Erin - I love the school janitor idea.
Gretchen - I love the mental image of Derek moving a 9,000 pound desk and digging in the drain. That's awesome.
